5 Great Christian Websites!

decide you want to be weird too. In the good way."

Writers Of Elysian
A blog written by a group of young writers
who are working together to share their writing with the world.

"Unlocking the Bible challenges listeners to believe
that their lives can be transformed by ‘The Power of the Open Book’
through consistent study of the Bible
and a deepening faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ."

Desiring God
"Desiring God exists to help people everywhere understand and
embrace this truth. We aim to make the glory of God and the goodness
of joy the foundation and flavor of everything we do."

Tricia Goyer
"Tricia Goyer is a busy mom of ten, grandmother of two, and wife to John.
Somewhere around the hustle and bustle of family life,
she manages to find the time to write fictional tales delighting
and entertaining readers and non-fiction
titles offering encouragement and hope."

These are all great Christian websites and I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

Vacation Is Here!

I don't know when you had your vacation
or if you even had a vacation this year.
Well from October 11 to 31 I am on vacation!
I haven't had a real vacation in two years so this will be fun and relaxing.
Some people may find it hard to believe
but even kids and teenagers can have a lot of stress.
I will probably publish an article a week but I can't promise anything.
Enjoy your week!

Years Like Days

2 Peter 3:8
But do not forget this one thing, dear friends:
With the Lord a day is like a thousand years,
and a thousand years are like a day.
This verse really made me think and I decided I would think out loud a little.
A thousand years is like a day and a day like a thousand years.

God is eternal and Earth is only 6,000 years old...
(A) Does that mean God experienced six thousand years in six "God" days?

God was at the beginning and the end.
(B) Is our present His past and present?

1 John 3:20
If our hearts condemn us,
we know that God is greater than our hearts,
and he knows everything.
It's unbelievable how many verses there are about God knowing everything.
What you do with your life is your choice and you have the freedom to choose.
I'm not trying to tell you how to you need to think I'm just trying to make you think.

Gifts Come In All Shapes And Sizes

“Your talent is God's gift to you.
What you do with it is your gift back to God.”
― Leo Buscaglia
God gave each and every one of us talents and gifts.
Maybe you are a fast runner.
Or amazing at math.
Or excellent at baking.
Or good at drawing.
Or great at building someone up.
Whatever your gift or talent may be, we all have one.
Maybe you haven't figured out what your gift or talent is yet.

Of course God gave us more than just talents and gifts.
He gave promises, He gave His life, He gave hope.

Every heard of the five love languages?

1. Words of affirmation

2. Quality time

3. Receiving gifts

4. Acts of service

5. Physical touch

I can guess what your thinking
"What does the five love languages have to do with the gifts we have?".

Study the five love languages, which one would you fit best in?

Personally, I like quality time.
I like it when people take the time to be with me,
to listen, to talk, to just be there.
And my love language fits into the gifts God's given me.

Because I love spending time with people, let me give you an example.
I enjoy quality time but I also enjoy serving others,
with both of those what could I accomplish?

I'm not going to rush you, just take your time and really think about it.
What are some things that you are good at doing that can give God glory?

Pira

Two weeks ago my family went to a Pai Tavytera village called Pira.
This was the first time we'd been to Pira in about 7 years.
It took us two hours to get there from where we were staying.
This First Nations village had missionaries living near them for 30+ years,
including my grandparents, great-grandparents and great uncle and aunt.

The village.

We had a great time visiting with some of them.

10,000 Books At Our House!

Yesterday afternoon 10,000 Stranger On The Road To Emmaus
were delivered to our house.
They all fit in our maids quarters/guest room.
We all had fun and all lot of aches when we were done but it was worth it.

The books were printed in Ireland and thankfully are all in Spanish.
(We joked that they might be in French or Irish)
I guess now you could call us book hoarders. 😜

My Cure

God is the cure to our pain and sickness.
In a way without God we are sick and broken.
But with Him we have a cure.
He is the cure.
I was listening to The Cure by Unspoken today
when it hit me that He cured us physically and spiritually.
And I also found this comment underneath one of their songs:
I asked Jesus one day, "How much do you love me?"
And He said "This much."
And he spread his arms and died on the cross for us.

It was a wake up call for me.
And I hope it is for you too.

There are so many verses I could share with this article
but I want to share this one in particular.
Psalms 37:4
Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

First Nations In Paraguay

There are 19 First Nation tribes in Paraguay.
The:
Guarani Nandeva,
Ishir Ybytoso,
Ava Guarani,
Mbya,
Toba Qom,
Toba Maskoy,
Enlhet Norte,
Exnet Sur,
Pai Tavytera,
Guana,
Angaite,
Tomaraho,
Guarani Occidental,
Nivacle,
Manjui,
Ayore,
Maka,
Ache,
Sanapana.

A few days ago I created the design used at the top of this article.
Hope you like it, anyway, please pray for these First Nation tribes.
They need the Bible in their language.
They need people to walk along side them and not in front.
They need encouragement from others.
They need to know that they have the call to missions just like you.
So please pray for them.

Embracing The Freedom You Already Have

Image result for You're Loved No Matter What: Freeing Your Heart from the Need to Be Perfect

Holley Gerth wrote an amazing book called You're Loved No Matter What.
(You can check out her website here)
I confess I haven't read the whole thing yet but so far it is really good.
Today I read chapter three about embracing the freedom you already have.
These are some of the things I learned:

1. Get brave and ask.

2. Take a chance.

3. Don't hesitate.

4. Don't not do something because you're
afraid you'll make a mistake, we all make mistakes.

5.Your human, stop trying to be perfect.

6. The more you get out and ask the easier it gets.

7. Use the freedom for God's glory.

8. Sometimes you have to just say "No."

9. Be yourself.

I'd recommend checking out her other books too.
